Ora Wise currently is the culinary director of Harvest & Revel, a cooperatively run all female catering & private events company based in Brooklyn. She also co-coordinates FIG (Food Issues Group), a collective of food industry folks studying issues of sustainability and exploring creative solutions.
Although food has always been central in her life, the main focus of her work has been community education & social movement building. She had the honor of working for several years as the Curriculum Specialist for Detroit Future Media, an intensive media training program teaching Detroiters how to use media for a more just, creative and collaborative city. She co-founded the Palestine Education Project, a collective of educators, activists and artists committed to Popular Education and developing multimedia curriculum connecting the struggle for justice in Palestine to struggles for self-determination in the U.S. Connected to this work, Wise co-produced Slingshot Hip Hop, a grassroots documentary exploring the lives of young hip hop artists in Palestine which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2008 and helped to lead the Indigenous Youth Delegation to Palestine in 2009.
